What do you do in your role as trustee at Become? As Chair of the Board of Trustees my role is to ensure that the Board can effectively lead and support Become in delivering its charitable purpose. Trustees are all volunteers, chosen to provide the right mix of knowledge, skills and life experiences. Individually and collectively we are legally responsible for the charity.
Can you say a bit about your relevant experience and qualifications? I have had a career for over 40 years in children and families social care, first in the public sector and the last 25 plus years in the charity sector. I’m a qualified social worker and youth worker, have an MBA in Public Service Administration and now focus on trustee and non executive director responsibilities in the not for profit sector.
What do you like about being a trustee at Become? I enjoy leading a team of trustees, supporting the Chief Executive and seeing the difference Become makes for those with care experience.
What drives you? Tackling social disadvantage and injustice and supporting the development and delivery of high quality services for children and young people.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Time with family, cooking, cycling, climbing, walking and reading.
