What do you do at Become?
I am the Interim CEO at Become, I am covering for Katharine, the permanent CEO who is currently on maternity leave until autumn 2021.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
I’ve always worked in jobs that support children and young people to get their voices heard in society with the goal of making things better for them. I’m a campaigner by trade, but for the last five years I’ve been more focused on organisational leadership, strategy and development.
What do you like about working at Become?
I’ve only just started, but I am excited about being in an organisation that puts care experienced young people at the heart of everything that it does. The next year is going to be an important one for care experienced young people and it’s vital that we ensure that young people’s voices are heard during the upcoming review of care.
What drives you?
I’m driven by delivering impact and seeing real world change. There is nothing more satisfying than working with children and young people and supporting them to shape and change their worlds for the better.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Swimming, I’m a big fan of outdoor swimming. In the winter I opt for one of London’s many heated Lido’s, but between Spring and Autumn there is nothing better than West Reservoir or Kenwood Ladies pond.
